Druids are the nature-using masters of Azeroth. Following the ways taught by the Ancients, as well as by the Demi-God Cenarius, Druids call upon the natural powers of the earth to both heal and destroy. Druid’s are perhaps the most fearful class, seeing as they can upset the delicate balance of nature and send the world into chaos.
Cenarius, the Forest Lord, taught the world how to use the magic of the druidism through his first, and most intelligent, student: Malfurion Stormrage. Malfurion became a master of druidism and, using the powers he had been taught, became one of the many heroes in the First War against the Burning Legion. He was also the first non-ancient and non-dragon to enter the Emerald Dream, a plane of the world that is controlled by the Green Dragonflight that represents what Azeroth would have become had it not been for the introduction of magic.
Druids have since grown to be a much large group; so large, in fact, that they now have many different sub-groups, such as the Cenarion Expedition. Other Druid groups are based upon the Druid transformations themselves. These groups include, but are not limited to, the Druids of the Claw, Fang, Talon, Antler, and Wild.
Druids can change their shapes to appear as forest animals. Bears, Cheetahs, Cats, Seals, Moonkin, Crows, and even Trees of Life are all included in the Druids shape-shifting powers. These nature wielders are also able to control roots that lock their enemies in place, as well as calling down beams of white light from the moon to smite their enemies.
Currently, many of the Druids, Malfurion Stormrage included, are locked inside the Emerald Dream fighting against an entity only known as “The Emerald Nightmare.” Ysera, the Green Aspect’s leader, aids them in this battle, as does her adoptive son and the deity of all Druids, Cenarius.
