Loatheb

Loatheb is a Fungal monster boss in Naxxramas.

Loatheb is the last of three bosses in the Plague Quarter.

An interesting thing to note, Healbot is an anagram for Loatheb, which describes one of the mechanics in the fight.

The tank is on Loatheb at all times. In it's current state, this fight appears to be easier for a tank that can shield block.

Loatheb does have AoE DoT abilities, but the few things to note for the fight are the spores and the healing debuff. At the start of the fight, Loatheb will cast a 16 second debuff on everyone in the raid that reduces healing by 100%. After the debuff wears off, the healers have 4 seconds to heal before the debuff is cast on everyone in the group again. As everyone in the group takes damage, some sort of group healer is preferred in conjunction with a main healer on the tank. A druid with flourish works rather well for healing the group during the 4 seconds (even though some of the flourish ticks will do 0 healing due to the debuff).

The spores have minimal health and can easily die in 1 or 2 hits. When killed, each spore will debuff 5 people in close proximity. An easy rotation for this is to have 1 group start and rotate back and forth as there will only be one spawn up every 30 second to 1 minute. Every person in raid except the tank should have the spore debuff at all times if possible. The debuff (seen here) makes the fight significantly easier.

Keep both of these mechanics in mind and essentially just DPS Loatheb down. People in the raid should continue to rotate spores until Loatheb dies. It is possible to kill Loatheb without the help of the spores, but is significantly harder.

Note during the healing debuff time:

• Everyone (including the healers) should be DPSing Loatheb during the debuff time. Healers should be prepared to heal (preferably having a heal timed to go off just as the debuff goes down) when the healing debuff disappears.
