The Sons of Hodir

Summary

The Sons of Hodir Faction is related to the race of Frost Giants living in Dun Niffelem, a huge ice fortress in central Storm Peaks. Both Horde and Alliance can gain Reputation with this Faction.

Led by King Jokkum, the Frost Giants of Dun Niffelem are an ancient race created by the Titans many eons ago as protectors of the northern reaches of Azeroth. So powerful and long-lived are they that the encroaching Scourge threat has only begun to concern them. Those who ally with them will be of more use aiding the Giants in defending their home in Dun Niffelem from the restless spirits of Thunderfall and the wild Jormungar worms of the Valley of Ancient Winters.

The Frost Giants of Northrend are the cousins of the lesser Frost Giants of northern Azeroth, such as the Frostmaul Giants in Winterspring.

Sons of Hodir Reputation Guide

In order to begin earning reputation with this Faction, a player must complete a long quest chain set in the Vrykul settlement of Brunnhildar. It begins with They Took Our Men! in the Goblin town of K3 in southern Storm Peaks. After completing this quest chain, the Slag Covered Metal item will drop off of one of the Stormforged Giants around Dun Niffelem. This item begins one of two quests, either The Refiner's Fire or A Spark of Hope. A Spark of Hope will earn the player Neutral standing with the Sons of Hodir Faction. At this point, the player may begin doing daily quests and earning further reputation levels.

Currently there are a number of daily quests in Storm Peaks which give Sons of Hodir reputation. They become available at different levels of reputation:

• Available at Neutral:
  • Hot and Cold (Rewards 250 Rep.)
  • Blowing Hodir's Horn (Rewards 250 Rep.)
  • Polishing the Helm (Rewards 250 Rep.)
• Available at Honored:
  • Spy Hunter (Rewards 250 Rep.)
  • Thrusting Hodir's Spear (Rewards 350 Rep.)
• Available at Revered:
  • Feeding Arngrim (Rewards 250 Rep.)

There is also a repeatable quest taken from an item found in the area of Dun Niffelem and surrounding sub-zones. If a player finds an Everfrost Chip, it can be turned in to Calder at Dun Niffelem for 350 Sons of Hodir rep. There is not limit to the amount you cxan find and turn in per day, however the Everfrost Chips are rather rare.

As of patch 3.0.8 Relic of Ulduar may be turned in by 10 for 250 rep.
